The cornerstone for ground-breaking innovations – from phones that can download movies instantly to futuristic technology such as autonomous cars and ‘remote’ healthcare – 5G will be a highly significant news story in the coming decade for consumer, trade and business audiences.

As the UK’s only research centre dedicated to 5G, the University of Surrey’s 5GIC is made up of researchers at the forefront of this field and can offer expert comment to the media across a range of 5G-related topics.

Our spokespeople

Professor Rahim Tafazolli

Director of the Institute for Communication Systems (ICS), Professor Tafazolli is one of the world’s experts in mobile communication technology. He is editor of the book ‘Technologies for Wireless Future’ and was appointed as a Fellow of the Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF) in recognition of his personal contribution to the field of wireless communications. He is also a board member of the UK Future Internet Strategy Group (UK-FISG).

Mr Keith Robson

Chief Operating Officer at 5GIC, Keith Robson specialises in promoting industrial collaboration within the Higher Education sector, focusing on areas such as spin-out and start-up formation, fund raising, IP management and business incubation. He has extensive industry experience having held Managing Director roles with ThermoElectron company Peek Traffic Systems and Beta Instrument, and formed a start-up company in automated vision inspection systems for factory quality control.
