Upgrades: If your software is on floppy disk (  ), it will almost definitely not run on Windows 98 or later versions of Windows. IMPACT members can upgrade their software to the most up-to-date version on CD (  ) for £11.75 (includes VAT).
Some of our Flexible Learning Packs have been developed to replace existing software packages. If you have previously purchased software from us, check if you can upgrade to the appropriate Flexible Learning Pack for just £11.75.

IMPACT software currently available:

• Flexible Learning Packs: A range of flexible learning packs and supporting software that follow the chemistry AS and A2 specification very closely. These can either form the basis of a lesson plan, or be used as a revision guide for students to complete in their own time.
  (Check to see if you can upgrade from existing IMPACT software to the appropriate Flexible Learning Pack for £11.75.)

• Chemical Information System (CIS) Database Version 2.0: Contains physical, spectroscopic (NMR, IR, UV & Mass), structural (2D and rotatable 3D) and safety information for over 170 chemicals commonly encountered by AS and A2 chemists. Download an evaluation copy now.

• MolView: Molecular Visualiser containing stereochemical information on a range of over 200 commonly used organic, biological and monomer/polymer molecules showing specific geometrical features. Download an evaluation copy now.

• Organic: The Organic Chemistry Tutorial package has been designed to run in two modes - either as an 'A' level introduction to organic chemistry, or as a more basic GCSE package. The tutor can edit all text files, and video clips and static diagrams (which also may be altered by the tutor) are used to illustrate points and reactions where appropriate. Topics covered include polymerisation, crude oil, environmental issues, and simple chemistry of alkanes, alkenes, alcohols and acids. Download an evaluation copy now.
• We are in the process of creating a series of AS and A2 organic chemistry Flexible Learning Packs which will eventually replace "Organic". If you have already purchased "Organic", you can purchase any of the organic chemistry Flexible Learning Packs pack for £11.75.

• Spectroscopy Suite: A suite of three programs, "IR Tutorial", "MS Tutorial" and "NMR Tutorial" with an integrated help file / glossary of terms. Download an evaluation copy now.

• EQ: This package has been replaced by the Equilibrium Flexible Learning Pack.
  If you already have EQ you can purchase the new flexible learning pack for our usual upgrade price of £5.88 (includes VAT).

• KineticSim: This package has been replaced by the Kinetics Flexible Learning Pack.
  If you already have KineticSim you can purchase the new flexible learning pack for our usual upgrade price of £5.88 (includes VAT).

Typical system requirements for software:

• 256 colour graphics or better.
• 512MB RAM or better.
• Windows 2000 or later.
• 20MB Hard Disk space (up to 40MB for Organic).
• CDRom for installation.

Periodic Table Screensaver (~16Kb, zipped). Place the unzipped file "Surrey Chemistry Screensaver.scr" in your "Windows" directory and alter the screen saver settings on your desktop accordingly.

For this to run correctly, you must have the support file "MSVBVM60.DLL" located in your computer's "Windows\System32" directory. Anyone with IMPACT software should have this file already installed. It is also available from this Microsoft web site, as a self extracting file, and is ~1040 Kb in size.
