Environmental
Psychology
in the U.K was started in December 1999 with a
two day Conference at London Guildhall University entitled ‘Looking for Environmental Psychology in the UK’. We anticipated 30 delegates - over 80 people
attended from all over the UK. At
that meeting it was decided that EPUK should be formed to provide a network and
forum for UK-based environment-behaviour researchers.
The network is open not
only to psychologists but all those in cognate disciplines who undertake
research in this area (e.g., sociologists, architects, designers, geographers).
Networking is achieved through the EnvPsy Mailing list (EnvPsy@jiscmail.ac.uk) and paper
sessions and meetings at other conferences (e.g., EDRA in Edinburgh in July
2001).

The next EPUK Conference will be held in
Spring 2005 – venue to be confirmed. Traditionally, the conference will last 3 days
(from 11am on day 1 to
3 pm on day 3 – 2 nights for most
delegates). The first afternoon will be focussed on postgraduate students and
provide an opportunity for students to discuss their work with other students
and more experienced researchers. The rest of the conference will consist of
papers from invited speakers, papers resulting from a call for submissions, and
some workshop sessions (focussing on methods and techniques in environmental
psychology ).
If you are interested in attending or would
like to know more about EPUK, please contact David Uzzell
(d.uzzell@surrey.ac.uk).
