Psychology at UniS makes a vital contribution to both research and teaching in the discipline. Ranked second (October 1999) out of all UK psychology departments in The Guardian's quality league tables, we have three core practices: teaching, research and enterprise consultancy services.

Research active staff who are leading experts in their fields teach our students. Teaching standards within the department have been officially accredited as excellent. We have one of the largest and most comprehensive Masters programmes in the UK, two further practitioner doctorate programmes and a thriving PhD community. We received one fifth of all PhD scholarships from the ESRC this year and were ranked as the top Psychology Department in the UK for the percentage of our graduates entering employment.

The Department has evolved into one of the largest research establishments in the UK today. Enterprise consultancy services maximise the benefits of this by offering academic partnerships that deliver solutions for the real world.
