About us

Campus investment

Since 2000, our estate has been transformed through a £400 million building development and improvement programme – including £130 million on student accommodation, £36 million on Surrey Sports Park, £16 million on the new Library and Learning Centre and £4.5 million on the Ivy Arts Centre.

Surrey’s School of Veterinary Medicine

The establishment of a new £45 million School of Veterinary Medicine – one of only eight in the UK – has put Surrey on the map as a pioneering centre for interdisciplinary research to improve animal and human health.

£70m signed up for 5G

A consortium of key global players has pledged support of £58 million for our 5G Innovation Centre programme in addition to the £11.6 million awarded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England from the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund.

The group consists of some of the world’s leading mobile network operators, infrastructure and tools providers, media and communications organisations as well as our regional partner, EM3 LEP.

Due to open in autumn 2015, the 5GIC is located on the University’s Stag Hill campus and will be home to over 150 researchers and 100 PhD students.
