The University’s Professional Training placement programme is one of the largest in the world, with over 2,300 partners in the UK and overseas.
These organisations provide opportunities for students to put their skills into practice and to experience a real working environment.
The Professional Training programme offers students the chance to gain invaluable work experience as part of their studies, meet employers and acquire important employability skills.
Professional Training is an integral part of life at the University of Surrey and the experience, maturity and confidence our students gain whilst out on placement – either in the UK or abroad – sets them a cut above the rest when they graduate.
The University's Professional Training placement team works in collaboration with colleagues in other departments – such as the Careers Service and the International Relations Office – to prepare students for their placements, ensure they have excellent professional and personal skills and receive the best learning opportunities.
Each year, awards are presented to students and companies – including a Professional Training Placement Student of the Year award – and returning students are encouraged to share their experiences with first- and second-year students.
