Access to buildings

The Additional Learning Support website provides detailed information about access to key buildings on campus.

A map of campus (PDF Format, suitable for printing, Adobe Reader required) showing access points, lifts, ramps and disabled parking spaces is available in PDF format (download Adobe Reader).

Some parts of the University of Surrey campus can be a challenge for wheelchair users, but there are ways of avoiding some hills by using alternative routes.

Open the ‘Route planner for Wheelchair Users’ (PDF Format, Adobe Reader required) to find;

• routes on level ground,
• hills to be avoided and
• lifts and exits at different levels e.g. from the ground floor of Senate house you can take a lift to the second floor exit that will lead to level access to the Student Services Centre, Accommodation and Careers.

Use the planner with the Disabled Access map on this website to find Disabled Parking spaces that are located nearest your destinations.  Please note that the Students Union is best accessed via the south side of Hillside and an exit next to Starbucks, using ramps to the west side of the Student Union building.

Parking on campus

Blue badge holders should park in an available disabled bay (marked on the disabled access campus map above) and clearly display their badge. Unfortunately, we can't reserve a disabled space in advance, as this could inhibit the regular members of our community who use the bays. Visitors who are unable to find a suitable space should make themselves known to the Security Office, located on the ground floor of Senate House, who will do all they can to accommodate the visitor as close to their intended building as possible.
