Snow update – we are operating essential and faculty based services only
Heavy snowfall is causing disruption to roads and transport systems in Surrey and further bad weather is forecast for the rest of the day.
In line with our adverse weather policy, the campus will remain open for essential services only from 12.30pm today. Staff members who are unsure whether or not they are included in the essential services grouping should check with their line managers. The library will remain open until further notice, but with a reduced level of service – entrance to the library will be via the Level 1 Learning Centre entrance (using the stairs or lift beside Amigos).
All non-essential staff who are currently on campus are advised to return home as soon as possible and take action in line with the adverse weather policy. Staff who are driving home are asked to take extreme caution as there are currently reports of difficult driving conditions on the county’s roads.
Examinations planned for 12.30pm today will be going ahead. However, examinations planned for 3.30pm and 6.30pm today and all examinations on Saturday 19 January (including IELTS) have been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. At this stage, examinations for Monday 21 January are expected to go ahead as planned and normal service is expected to resume across the campus. Students are advised to keep an eye on the website for further updates.
Auditions at the Guildford School of Acting (GSA) planned for 12.30pm and 1.30pm today will be going ahead. However, auditions planned for 3pm and 4pm today and all auditions on Saturday 19 January have been postponed. The Saturday School on 19 January has also been cancelled.
Members of the public who were due to attend a Maths Masterclass on the University campus on Saturday 19 January are asked to contact the Royal Institute (the event organisers) directly for information about whether this is likely to be going ahead. Please call 020 7409 2992 or visit www.rigb.org.

Although no snow has arrived in Guildford as yet, adverse weather conditions are expected imminently with snow showers forecast and temperatures expected to remain below zero.
Snow is expected this morning but, following an assessment of the forecast and in line with our adverse weather policy, the campus will be operating as normal.

A number of parking bays in the Main Car Park have now been roped off to allow them to be cleared and kept free for examination staff who are expected on Saturday morning. Please observe the barriers that are in place and park elsewhere.
Grounds staff teams have taken steps to grit campus roads, paths and car parks but all staff and students are advised to take care when driving or walking on the university grounds.
