iWEAVE explores the transformation of a dancer's costume into a digital wearable item inviting unique movement interactions.

Using cutting edge interactive digital technology, dancers have been filmed in the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal processing (CVSSP) 3D studio and 3D animated models will be combined with live motion technology using Kinect camera sensor, to enable users to stand in front of a large TV screen and 'virtually try on' costumes from the archive without danger of the degradation of the physical item.

Lead Investigator Rachel Fensham
Co-Investigator John Collomosse, CVSSP
Research Assistants Nicolas Salazar-Sutil and Qizhi Yu
Dancers Bernardette Lemon and Melina Scialom

Thank you to NRCD and GSA for permission to use their archival costumes.

Visualising 3+ Motion has been funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Bridging the Gaps, and these events profile research involving computing scientists, dancers, visual artists, archivists and theatre directors. The launch will include the installations and screening of a 'making-of' documentary.
