Does everything really begin with one or is it that everything ends with one?
I asked you to show me a symbol of you in this world. Suddenly I realised you were the whole universe. Yunus Emre
Time and ancient Indian philosophy proposes a cyclic phenomenon that neither is the beginning nor is at the end. Whether uniting with the beloved or capturing the first beat of the time cycle, the persistence of it brings one closer to the journey of becoming one with the divine.
Through the use of costume, body, space and music, Amina will incorporate the magic of Kathak through ancient and classical dance vocabulary, adding to it a modern global influence. I ncorporating Nritta (pure dance) and Nritya (expression through narrative), the music and dance will take you on a memorable journey, accompanied by an ensemble of highly respected musicians.
One will be supported by Seven, a Kathak piece performed by the young and talented dancers I ris Chan,
Divneet Peach and Lucy Teed, who since graduating from the U niversity of Surrey are training professionally and performing in Kathak.
Produced in association with zeroOclassikal.
