Mozart Overture to the Magic Flute
Sibelius Symphony no. 7
Copland Appalachian Spring
Beethoven Symphony no. 8
Conducted by Emily Rogers, Peter Ford, Martin Sargeson and Thomas Theakston.
Student conductors lead the University of Surrey Symphony Orchestra through these masterpieces from the orchestral repertoire.
Sibelius' final one-movement Symphony (the lush and powerful 7th) is complimented with the wit and humour of Beethoven's more lighthearted and glittering 8th Symphony.
These two symphonies surround Copland's glorious Appalachian Spring which is brimming with New World joy and hope. This raw and energetic piece married with Sibelius' 7th, Beethoven's 8th and Mozart's Overture Die Zauberföte makes for the perfect evening programme as we move into the long summer months. Getting in the mood for summer, Pimms will also be available as interval refreshments.
