Labanarium presents... Movement Direction with Dr Teresa Izzard
Monday 24 April, 10am - 4pm

Dr Teresa Izzard is a Theatre Arts lecturer at Curtin University and resident Director/Movement Director and a Somatic practitioner. She is a Laban/Bartenieff Certified Movement Analyst (LIMS ’07), a Dynamic Embodiment Practitioner and holds a PhD in Theatre Direction (Phillip Parsons Prize ’13). Teresa has also trained with Anne Bogart’s SITI Company in Viewpoints, Suzuki and Composition.

In the morning session you will explore Lorca’s Blood Wedding and discuss the challenges it presents for a movement director, honing in on Act 3 in particular. You will also be offered a palette of tools and approaches that combine Laban Movement Analysis and Viewpoints. The afternoon session will be a chance to apply some of these ideas to the text through Composition work. The master class will conclude with a Q&A session.

Buffet lunch and refreshments included.

We'd like to ask participants’ to read through two documents in preparation of the workshop. Please click here and here for the documents.
