In this lecture, Nigel Barker, head of Partnerships for London and English Heritage's nominated representative on the Mayor's London Cultural Strategy Group, will examine typical causes of heritage being at risk and past solutions to this problem.

He will also consider whether there are additional pressures in the current economic circumstances that require new approaches to ensuring a sustainable future for historic places and discuss how an individual such as the owner of a building, a member of a congregation or a local volunteer can contribute to handing on the inheritance of our historic environment to future generations.
