A Retrospective of the artists eight decade career. To be opened by Kaffe Fassett, painter and textile designer.
Sheila Healey has lived and worked in Sussex for the last 40 years after an extraordinary career which continues still today. Born in Argentina in 1915, she has worked in Mexico City, Guatemala, Chiapas, New York and later in California. All the while she has exhibited widely - the Pasadena Art Institute, Vincent Price Gallery Beverly Hills, UCLA and the LA County Museum, the Norlyst Gallery NY and more recently in London's Cork Street and Sussex.
Central to this internationally varied painting life has been the everyday commitment to her work, expressing that defining inner certainty, 'the psychological moment', through looking at what lies beyond what we see.
This exhibition shows a selection of work from all phases of her long career including current commissions.
