The Ion Beam Centre has three vacant posts. The Ion Beam Centre is looking to recruit two Research Assistants and an Experimental Officer.

This is an opportunity for two highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Fellows and one Experimental Officer to join The Ion Beam Centre (IBC) at the University of Surrey, a world leading facility and centre of excellence for research in ion beam modification of materials and ion beam analysis.

The IBC’s Laboratories house “state of the art” implanters and associated processing and metrology equipment and a 2MV Tandem Accelerator used primarily for Ion Beam Analysis (IBA). These facilities are used in a wide variety of collaborative projects with universities and industries world-wide.   The IBC is looking for three enthusiastic and skilled individuals who will be involved in a range of collaborative projects in: (i) the processing and measurement of electronic materials; (ii) ion beam analysis; and (iii) supporting the activities in the IBA laboratory and the construction and commissioning of a new MeV-SIMS beamline.

In addition to suitable qualifications in an applied mathematics, physics or a relevant engineering discipline, it is also desirable that all three successful candidates will have good practical skills and relish a challenge They will also need to have a flair for practical problem solving, fault finding and diagnosis and be able to work well as part of a team but also be capable of working independently and have the necessary communication skills to talk to people from widely different backgrounds and disciplines.
