In this talk I will review our work in the field of heterogeneous III-V semiconductor/silicon photonic integrated circuits for communication applications
This includes the integration of lasers, photodetectors, high efficiency fiber-chip couplers etc. on a silicon chip. Besides communication applications I will also describe our first steps in realizing photonic integrated circuits for the mid-infrared wavelength range, including the heterogeneous integration of mid-infrared photodetectors on silicon waveguide circuits.
