Getting Started
The best way to gain an introduction of the potential benefits of teaching with EVS, how the system works and what the procedures are to gain access to the technology is to attend the workshop Using an electronic voting system to support active learning (EL10).
The workshop Using an electronic voting system to support active learning (EL10) explores the use of EVS in medium and large group teaching, with the aim of encouraging greater student engagement and supporting active learning.
The course is a blend of presentation, discussion and hands-on activity including:
- Using the electronic handsets and understanding the student experience
- How EVS can support active learning and engagement within medium and large group contexts
- Models of practice and case studies from a range of subject areas
- Creating your questions using the EVS software within PowerPoint
- Voting alternatives via smartphones and web-enabled devices
- Practical guidance for running your session
- Next steps: booking arrangements and support
Upcoming workshops are shown on our Technology-related workshop page

If your computer is a managed workstation please contact usersupport@surrey.ac.uk quoting your workstation number to request the software be deployed to your computer. If you are able to install your own software you can download TurningPoint from www.turningtechnologies.com or contact e-learning@surrey.ac.uk to request a copy on CD.
