Research Fellow in Structural Engineering: impact and blast loading effect on reinforced concrete flat slab-column connections

We are seeking to recruit a Research Fellow to undertake a 14 month research project funded by the EPSRC working within the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Surrey. We are looking for a highly able, enthusiastic and collegiate individual, with research experience in structural engineering and dynamic or impact loading. Applicants should hold a PhD in Structural Engineering or a related topic and will be expected to take a leading role in carrying out the research work.

The primary aim of the project is the development of a theoretical model for impact and blast loading of RC flat slab-column connections. The model will be further supported by finite element simulations. The work will also include disseminating the findings through technical reports and publications, and presentations to the structural engineering community. The postholder will join a strong international team, which includes experts in EPFL (Switzerland) and Arup (UK) working on key issues related to the design and performance of RC structures.

Informal enquiries may be made to Dr. Juan Sagaseta (T: +44(0)1483686649, E: j.sagaseta@surrey.ac.uk). For an application pack or to apply on-line please go to www.surrey.ac.uk/vacancies.
