Thames Water and the University of Surrey have recently signed a 54 month research contract to improve Thames Water’s knowledge and abilities in the area of trunk burst prediction and methods of mitigation.
Thames Funding £1M, plus £240k from the EPSRC Industrial Doctorate Centres.
Moving forward, such improvements will assist in minimising the occurrence of bursts and their impacts.
Joining the research team at the University will be two PDRAs and a PhD student, whilst a Research Engineer (RE) from each Industrial Doctorate Centre namely MiNMaT and SEES will be based at Thames Water.

This is a joint project between the Divisions of Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical, Medical and Aerospace.
