Civil Graduate, Elizabeth Orchard Receives National Award

Elizabeth Orchard (nee Waters) graduated from the MEng programme in Civil Engineering in June 2010.  Liz was selected for the Surrey/ICE Scholarship Scheme and was sponsored by Peter Brett Associates throughout her programme.  She spent 12 months on Professional Training Placement with PBA and amongst other projects worked on the design of Manor Park Student Residences and the Sports Park sites.  

It is a delight to see Liz's activities in promoting engineering in schools and in the sector and her activity as a member of the Thames Valley Graduates and Students Committee recognised by this prestigious award.  However, it is not a surprise to us that Liz has been so active - whilst a student with us, Liz certainly demonstrated her motivation for encouragement of others in the engineering and organisational skills.  Liz was often the leader for us on UCAS events and Open Days and was a very active chair of the Students Committee for the Scholarship.
