Tye is Italy-bound

University of Surrey Sports Scholar Jonny Tye will represent Great Britain at the ICF Canoe Kayak Marathon World Championships in Rome following a successful national event last month.
Mechanical Engineering student Tye, who is sponsored by London Duck Tours, took on the senior K1 and K2 events at the National Marathon Championships in Norwich and finished top of the K2 with partner Stuart West.
At just 19 years old Tye is in his first senior year in the sport, making this achievement even more impressive.
Tye and West will head out to Rome later this month for the World Championships starting on 21 September.
Aside from his work on the water Jonny has also enjoyed some recent academic success, winning the Instron Prize for best ‘Design, Make, Evaluate’ project with a team of fellow engineering students after designing a rifle shooting support for a client.
