• Royal College of Midwifery Vision Award

  Rachel Yates has been awarded a Royal College of Midwifery Vision Award. Rachel wrote an excellent proposal for her planned elective trip to Sri Lanka and submitted a letter of support from her personal tutor Kath Lawton. On the basis of this, Rachel was short listed and won the award.
  

• Surrey student celebrated for his Bright Idea

  Vassileios Balntas won a competition for entrepreneurial students after developing a mobile phone app to help diagnose sleep disorders.

• Arts student is internet sensation

  A re-mixed music track using the University of Surrey Symphony Orchestra has received over 30,000 views on the popular YouTube website.

• From Surrey to Sri Lanka: student midwife wins National Midwifery Award

  A Surrey student has won one of the UK’s top midwifery prizes at the Royal College of Midwives’ (RCM) Annual Awards, the UK’s most prestigious midwifery awards, held in London on 25 January.

• Surrey student loops his way to the final

  Surrey student Joel Grainger made it through to the UK finals in the World Looping Competition - where you weave together live music into a layered song.

• Student's final year project published in scientific journal

  Recent Surrey Physics graduate, Brian Fraser, is a co-author on a publication in an international scientific journal.

  Katie Clark, a first year nursing student, received a St John Ambulance award on 9 November 2011 for her bravery during an emergency earlier this year.

  A Surrey student has received a prize from the Institute of Physics at the 25th biennial meeting of the Polymer Physics Group.

• Students win enterprise prize

  Last week six enterprising undergraduate students from the University battled to win a share of £5,000 from an expert panel at the inaugural ‘Pitching4Projects’ competition.

  Guillaume Devinat, a second year business management student at the University, received a Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Award on 6 July.

  A Surrey student has won an industry award for his work promoting the study of space at the prestigious Sir Arthur Clarke Awards.
