The Practitioner Doctorate in Sustainability offers the opportunity to achieve a doctoral level degree while gaining invaluable research experience in a prestigious organisation.
Graduates and researchers are often faced with a dilemma between pursuing their research studies at doctoral level or taking a role in industry and applying their knowledge in the ‘real world’. The Practitioner Doctorate in Sustainability effectively allows you to do both. Doctoral Practitioners (DPs) on the programme further their research knowledge in the academic field of sustainability and apply this to a real challenge, spending the majority of their time within a relevant organisation.
Aimed at high-achieving researchers and graduates whose vision is to become a sustainability leader in industry, our unique Practitioner Doctorate in Sustainability combines in-depth industry experience with a bespoke taught programme of advanced technical and specialised business courses.
Each student (known as a ‘Doctoral Practitioner’ or ‘DP’) is matched with a relevant organisation and engaged to work on a specific research brief linked to its sustainability challenges. The DP is based primarily at the organisation’s premises for between two and four years.
DPs are paid a competitive living stipend of up to £20k per annum. In addition to this, study fees are covered by the University.
Recruitment for the next intake of Doctoral Practitioners will take place during the autumn of 2016, with a start date in January 2017. Further information will appear on this website in due course.
