Yacob spent the past two years at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), focusing on the links between energy, climate and development. He helped set up the African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC), which is now up and running and considered an important knowledge centre in the African development landscape
Yacob will discuss the journey in setting up the ACPC, the evolution of the Centre’s research, advocacy and policy work, and survey some of the outstanding climate-related development work in Africa over the coming few years. He will also explore some of the possible research and training opportunities in Africa for Surrey and strategies to capitalize on the opportunities.
