Dr Katrina Charles, Lecturer in Environmental Engineering at the Centre for Environmental Strategy has recently published a paper in the Journal of Water and Health: "Commentary on community-led total sanitation and human rights: Should the right to community-wide health be won at the cost of individual rights?"

Engineering Doctoral studentship opportunity: "The Carbon Cost of Crime" A study of the synergies between moving to a low crime

A studentship is available with the Home Office and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Secured by Design. It is estimated that around 1% of the UK's carbon footprint can be attributed to 'crime' - this project aims to establish the costs and benefits of various crime prevention solutions, in order to bring about new solutions, policy measures, regulations and/or compliance standards that are both cost-effective and reduce overall carbon emissions.
