Dr Angela Druckman

Biography

Angela Druckman has been a member of the Centre of Environmental Strategy at the University of Surrey since January 2005. She joined as a Research Fellow working on the EPSRC funded Industrial and Social Ecology of Urban Resource Flows project, which was part of the Sustainable Urban Environment (SUE) Waste Consortium. She later transferred to the newly formed ESRC Research group on Lifestyles, Values and Environment (RESOLVE). In 2010 she accepted the post of Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Energy & Climate Change Mitigation.

Angela read Engineering at Cambridge University. She went on to achieve Chartered Engineer status through working in research and development in the field of electronics at GEC Hirst Research Centre, where she specialised in the hardware design of speech synthesis systems. She has a wide variety of experience, including lecturing in electronics at Kingston University, working in a commercial environment for a successful IT company, campaigning on climate change issues for Friends of the Earth as part of their Parliamentary Unit, and educating construction industry professionals in the use of sustainable products and systems.

Angela is a Co-Investigator on ERIE (Evolution and Resilience of Industrial Ecosystems), which is an EPSRC funded research programme involving the Departments of Sociology, Mathematics, Computing, and the Centre for Environmental Strategy, all within the University of Surrey. She is also an associate of the Sustainable Lifestyles Research Group (SLRG).

In 2011 Angela was awarded UK Scopus Young Researcher Award Environmental Sciences 2011.
