Biography

George Martin is a US citizen who lives in New York City, as well as in London and California. He studied English & Russian Literature as an undergraduate at Vanderbilt University, then Social Work & Social Policy as a master’s student at the University of Chicago, where he subsequently received a PhD in Sociology.

George joined CES in 1997 on a one-year Visiting "Laing" Lectureship.  Following this he was appointed as a Visiting Professor in the Centre for Environmental Strategy.  George's research interests are: 

Substance: Urban environmental sociology, transport, development and indigenous peoples
Method: Case studies and secondary analysis of data sets
