Biography

Yacob Mulugetta joined the Centre for Environmental Strategy in 1997.  He was responsible for setting up the Masters programme in the Centre which he managed for 10 years until September 2007. Yacob spent two years (2010-12) in the African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) at the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) where he worked as a Senior Energy and Climate Specialist between 2010 and 2012 (serving as acting coordinator between June and October 2012). Yacob currently serves as a Coordinating Lead Author of the Energy Systems chapter of the IPCC’s 5th Assessment Report (Working Group III on Mitigation), and a member of the core writing team of its synthesis report.
