Dr. Gabriel Buist

Dr. Gabriel Buist has passed away. He worked in the Chemistry Department from 1970 until his retirement in 1992.
He was a close associate of Professor Jones and also worked with Dr. Howlin and Dr. Povey. He passed away peacefully on December 13, 2012, in his home in Santa Barbara, California. His son and grandchildren were with him. Gabriel specialized in organic chemistry and also helped to pioneer computer-aided chemistry. His son has fond memories of visiting the department as a child with his father to look at all the exciting equipment!
