Our Experience
Over the past 30 years we have assessed the human psychopharmacological profiles of more than 250 different psychoactive substances. The resulting unique database of CNS activity profiles allows the comparison of new chemical entities (NCE’s) with other agents, including established medicines.
The list of substances we have investigated includes anaesthetics, analgesics, antidementia agents, antidepressants, anti-diarrhoeals, antihistamines, hypnotics, antihypertensives, anxiolytics, cognitive enhancers, nootropics, neuroleptics, NSAIDs and social substances (e.g. nicotine, caffeine, alcohol). We have also investigated consumer products, OTC medicines and herbal products.
This research has led to:
- Regulatory submissions and the supply of expert evidence to many different authorities including the FDA in the USA, the BGA in Germany, the CPMP in Brussels, and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency and Commission on Human Medicines in the UK
- Nearly 600 contributions to the medical and scientific literature since 1967, including 19 books and supplements
- Regular presentations at national and international scientific and medical meetings
- Lecture tours in more than 50 different countries
