Centre for Mathematical and Computational Biology

The Centre for Mathematical and Computational Biology (CMCB) represents collective expertise of University of Surrey researchers in the application of mathematics, computer science and engineering to the biology-driven technological revolution in medicine, animal-health, food production, ecology and chemical manufacturing, and to the fundamental understanding of biological science. The generation of big data shared on the internet and the analysis of these data with mathematical and computational methods is a hallmark of 21st century biology. The interpretation of experimental data through mathematical and computational modelling can provide great insight into fundamental biological mechanisms and inform future directions for experimental investigation.
