British Computer Society
The BCS, or British Computer Society, is the professional body for IT professionals, and the qualifying body for Chartered IT Professional. They are also the accrediting body for our BSc and MSc degrees, and they provide a representative for our Industrial Advisory Board.
We have a close relationship with the Guildford Branch of the BCS - in fact the chair is currently Roger Peel, one of our academics! We provide student BCS membership for all of our undergraduate students over the period of their degree.
The Guildford BCS Young Professionals Group is run by some of our PhD students, and organises regular extra-curricula activities within the Department, as well as national initiatives.
The regular Guildford Branch meetings take place on the University campus and student participation is encouraged. Every year the February meeting has selected students from the Department give presentations on their final year projects.
