Abstract:
Digital watermarking is a technique which allows a picece of secret information, called digital watermark, to be embedded in a piece of media, such as digital audio, video, or image signals and documents, in order to provide various types of security to the host media. A digital watermark is a sequence of binary or bipolar bits taking the forms of copyright ntoices, media authentication code (MAC), digital signature of the media owner or the media itself, or some kind of IDs, depending on its application. Digital watermarking finds applications in the areas of copyright protection (e.g., owner identification, transaction tracking / fingerprinting, copy control), multimedia authentication and integrity verification, broadcasting monitoring, etc. During the talk, firstly, the general idea of digital watermarking is depicted. Secondly, a taxonomy of digital watermarking techniques according to various characteristics of applications and requirements is presented. Finally, examples are demonstrated to reinforce the general idea.
