From the recent Google Aurora attacks, to the 'dark market' organised crime networks, we are entering a new era of especially organised, motivated and sophisticated cyber-threats.  It is therefore more critical than ever that businesses pro-actively manage the risks to their information.

This comes at a time when the necessity of cost reduction is also high up the corporate agenda; as organisations are investing in new shared utility and technology solutions a.k.a. 'the cloud' to take out cost from their operations.  They must carry out these measures enabled by effective Information Assurance (IA).

It is therefore very important that the field of IA takes account of the whole business and does not suffer from 'blind spots' .  The assessment of the whole business ensures that risk is treated in a manner that is commensurate to an organisation's objectives.  Detica has worked with clients to develop an enterprise risk management approach to help address this need.  This presentation will explore the concepts of enterprise risk management in the context of the cyber-threat and addresses how system focussed approaches to managing risk can be scaled to fit a large organisation.
