Student success at the Department's fifth annual PhD conference

Friday 20 July 2007

On Tuesday 17th July, the Department celebrated the work of our PhD students by holding the fifth annual Departmental PhD conference. The day is spent exploring a range of work through presentations and posters, culminating in prizes. We were also pleased to welcome a keynote talk from Paul Jackson, Director of Professional Operations at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

During the day, we heard about work from a selection of our students from each of the research groups within the Department. Following Paul Jackson's keynote talk, 7 of our students presented their work. Winning the prize for best presentation was Jonathan Goh, with runner up Chris Culnane.

As well as lunchtime being an opportunity for free food, 4 students presented their work as posters, 2 of these doing research projects as part of their masters degree. Winning the prize for best poster was Xi Zhao, with runner up Weilin Huang.
