Computer Weekly hails Surrey's industrial placement successes

Friday 1 June 2007

In a recent discussion with Computer Weekly, Roger Peel, one of the Department's senior lecturers, noted that "about 30% to 40% of our graduate-year students return to the companies that they worked with during their placement year." For employers, the placement year, and the experience it brings, is an increasingly important aspect they look for when recruiting graduates.

The success of the placement year may be one of the factors contributing to Surrey's status as educating graduates that are the most employable of any UK university.

Surrey has the lowest average unemployment rate amongst UK universities based on the past ten-year period, with the average starting salary of our graduates for 2005 of £19,760.
