Zezhe Cao, a PhD student in her first year of studies in the Department, has just been awarded a scholarship to attend the Empirical Foundations for Theories of Language course at Stanford.

During July, Zezhe will attend the course to learn from some of the top names in linguistics, covering topics such as syntax, morphology and statistical natural language processing.

This is internationally the most prestigious institute/summer school of its kind, run by the Linguistics Society of America. Scholarships are awarded competitively on the basis of the applicant's overall academic performance and promise, and are worth $1300 to help cover the cost of the fees for attending the course.

Further information on the course can be found here.
