Congratulations to David Lundin for successfully passing his MPhil to PhD transfer

David successfully transferred on Friday 25th April with his work titled "Simple end-to-end verifiable electronic voting". David is supervised by Dr James Heather and Dr Helen Treharne and was examined by Professor Steve Schneider, with Dr Matthew Casey as chair.
Abstract:
In end-to-end verifiable electronic voting systems voters are able to check that their votes have been included in the tally and anyone can check that the tally is correct, removing a very large portion of trust that traditionally has been placed in people, procedures, and, in some places, technology. David's achievements include a number of published conference papers as well as the first implementation of the electronic voting system Prêt à Voter, which has subsequently won a prestigious award and been demonstrated around the world. After a brief introduction to the research topic, the presentation focuses on the contributions made, which includes work on component based electronic voting systems, simple and accessible use of Prêt à Voter, the robust append-only web bulletin board and the implementation, and future directions.
