New MSc module for September: Enterprise Systems Development

Tuesday 1 April 2008

We are pleased to announce the arrival of the new Enterprise Systems Development module for our MSc in Internet Computing programme. The module will be available for the new academic year, starting in September 2008, and is part of our continual programme of development for our degrees to keep them at the leading edge and relevant.

Modern enterprises require distributed and interoperable information systems in order to function and remain competitive. Such distributed systems evolve continuously due to cheaper availability of hardware and high-speed communications. This evolution has drawn new lines in systems architecture design development and allows big corporations to build robust, modular, and reusable components. This module demonstrates the latest and most popular technologies used for building enterprise applications. Example topics of study include n-tier architectures, integration approaches, build and test environments, persistence approaches, and performance issues. The module covers most popular technologies, and focuses on Java and J2EE implementation principles.

The main aim of this module is to develop the necessary skills and familiarity to use state-of-the-art technologies to develop distributed systems in an enterprise environment.

Further details about the module will be available shortly via our MSc web pages.
