PhD student wins scholarship to attend prestigious European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR)

Neil Newbold, a PhD student in his first year of studies in the Department, has just been awarded a grant to attend the European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR) conference in Glasgow from 31 March to 2 April.
Neil will attend the conference to learn from some of the top names in information retrieval, covering topics such as Web Mining, semantic relationship mapping and information literacy.
This is internationally the most prestigious conference of its kind, organised by the Universities of Glasgowand Strathclyde, supported by BCS Information Retrieval Specialist Group and ACM Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval.
Scholarships are awarded competitively on the basis of the applicant's merit to help cover the cost of attending the conference.
