Secure mobile phone research student project funded
Tuesday 30 June 2009
Dr Hans Georg Schaathun and Dr Tim Brown in conjunction with Consult Hyperion have been awarded an EPSRC CASE studentship from the Cyber Security Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) to study mobile phone security. This is the second consecutive year that the KTN has awarded a CASE project to the Department. Typically there are only two CASE awards per year from the KTN.
The Cyber Security KTN describes the award as:
“The CASE Award funding will allow Consult Hyperion and the University of Surrey to research how mobile phones can be made more secure from information leakage, and how cost-effective security measures can be implemented into mobile devices.
CASE Awards provide funding for businesses to take the lead in arranging projects with an academic partner of their choice. The funding offers SMEs excellent research and developments opportunities, and universities benefit by developing their links with industry, improving students' prospects in the job market.”
