New MSc in Computational Intelligence and Computational Biology
Monday 3 October 2011
A new interdisciplinary MSc programme "Computational Intelligence and Computational Biology" is going to be launched by the Department of Computing in autumn 2012 (subject to final validation).
The main goal of this programme is to provide training in a cross-disciplinary area of computational intelligence, computational biology, and computational and cognitive neurosciences. This will equip the trainees with advanced skills in both development and applications of the above fields. In addition, the programme should foster students¹ interest in and develop basic and up-to-date knowledge for performing research in a related interdisciplinary area.
The developed skills will be essential for the graduates in their job seeking and future employment in industry and the institutions involved in research and development in intelligent optimization and control, bioinformatics, neuroscience, neurotechnology and other brain-related fronts, and computational biology. Core modules include Computational and Cognitive Neuroscience, Introduction to Computational Biology, Bioinformatics and Bioinformatics Programming, Brain Machine Interface, and Evolutionary Computation and Artificial Biology. The programme will be run in collaboration with FHMS.
