Kate Craig-Wood on Cloud Mission

Tuesday 8 November 2011

Congratulations to Kate Craig-Wood who this month was selected to join a government cloud computing mission to San Francisco in her role as Managing Director of Memset Ltd.  Kate is also pursuing a PhD in the Department of Computing.

The event is being organised by UK Trade and Investment; a government body dedicated to promoting international trade.  This year's cloud computing mission is intended to showcase the best of British SME cloud computing technology to Silicon Valley enterprises.  The 2011 mission hopes to build on the success of last year's event and further develop relationships on both sides of the Atlantic.

Kate is one of only a handful of industry leaders who were selected based on their reputation within the cloud computing industry and their commercial success.

When asked what her ambitions were for the week long cloud computing mission, Kate said “with Memset growing at over 30% per year we are always looking for new areas to expand into. San Francisco, with its concentration of high value and technologically advanced IT firms, seems like a logical next step for us. We are starting to see demand from some of our UK customers who want to provide services into the US market from infrastructure there; an opportunity for us to get a foothold overseas.  This upcoming trade mission will provide the perfect opportunity to get a taste of what operating in Silicon Valley entails and, hopefully, help us foster relationships with our American counterparts.”

We wish Kate the best of luck flying the flag for British cloud computing.
