Surrey Computing in Academic Ranking of World Universities 2012: Top 10 in UK, Top 150 in the World

On 15th August 2012 the Shanghai Jiao Tong University released its 10th edition of Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU 2012) and its 4th edition of ARWU-SUBJECT Rankings. In this year's ARWU-SUBJECT Ranking in Computer Science, Surrey Computing was ranked in the top 150 in the world. Including Surrey, only 10 UK universities were ranked in the top 150.
Among the five ranking criteria, Surrey Computing did especially well on "percentage of papers published in top 20% journals of Computer Science fields to that in all Computer Science journals": 89.6%. In this criterion Surrey Computing scored above most other UK universities and many international universities e.g. Oxford (76.4%), Cambridge (79.1%), Imperial (67.9%), Edinburgh (69.1%), Manchester (75.7%), UCL (84.1%), KCL (77.7%), Birmingham (79.2%), Warwick (62.4%), UC Berkeley (88.6%), UCLA (86.8%), University of British Columbia (87.8%), Tsinghua University (67.2%).
