Surrey Computing spinout's work Tiger Nation featured by BBC

The citizen science project Tiger Nation was featured recently on BBC Click Television.
Tiger enthusiasts can upload their photographs of tigers into the website. Image recognition software is then used to recognise the tigers from their stripe patterns. Meta-data on time and location is then used to map out the tigers' movements without the need for intrusive radio tagging. The website and image recognition software was developed by the Digital Ecosystem Research Group's spinout Thoughtified using our research know-how. Thoughtified was founded by two Surrey Computing PhD students Aaron Mason and Georgios Michalakidis, with Prof Paul Krause acting as Research Adviser.
