Prof Yaochu Jin was awarded a new EU FP7 STREP project titled "A theoretical framework for swarms of GRN-controlled agents which display adaptive tissue-like organisation (SWARM-ORGAN)". This project will focus on systems containing large numbers of autonomous but relatively simple agents, whose goal is to collectively organise themselves into complex spatial arrangements despite each agent having only local awareness. The research partners of Surrey include Fundacio Privada Centre de Regulacio Genomics, Spain, University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, The John Innes Centre, UK.
