Dr Tokos obtained her BSc in Chemical Engineering from Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, Serbia. She was awarded a PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Maribor, Slovenia in 2009. Her doctoral thesis was in the area of Process Systems Engineering with a focus on industrial application of Computer Aided Process Engineering (CAPE) Tools addressing process integration problems and assessment of environmental impact.
In 2010, Dr Tokos joined the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Zhejiang University, China, as a postdoctoral research associate. She worked primarily on problems in multi-level and bi-objective optimisation of large scale industrial water networks.
In 2012, she was appointed as Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, School of Engineering, Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan, mainly involved in teaching the undergraduate modules Engineering Systems Design and Engineering Systems Laboratory. She was awarded with a grant for research in the area of heat and power integration, optimizing both economic and environmental impact.
Dr Tokos joined the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Surrey in 2014.
My research is mainly focused on process integration, specifically in reduction of freshwater as well as heat and power consumption in existing plants according to the principles of sustainable development.
I was involved in industrial research within the brewing industry integrating the water and heat exchanger network, determining the optimal CHP system for on-site power generation, optimizing the hydrogen network in a refinery and optimizing the supply chain for biomass processing on regional level.
