Important information for 2016 Graduation Ceremonies
The 2016 Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree Conferment ceremonies will be held in a bespoke marquee in the grounds of Guildford Cathedral – an iconic spot in central Guildford.
The Cathedral, where we traditionally hold our Graduation Ceremonies, is undergoing vital renovation works from September 2015 until April 2017. Whilst the Cathedral will remain open, the works unfortunately mean that the capacity is reduced and we are unable to hold the ceremonies inside.
When we heard the news of the Cathedral works, we explored several other venues, both on and off the University Campus. Having seen the impressive plans for the marquee, the University felt that keeping the Graduation ceremonies very much at the heart of the University of Surrey was the best option.
The marquee, which has a stunning backdrop of the Cathedral through glass walls, will provide a unique setting for this special day of celebration. The Cathedral will also be open to all Graduands and their guests for photographs before and after the ceremonies.
As with previous years, all Graduands and their guests will be invited to a garden-party style celebration on Stag Hill Campus, a short walk from the Cathedral, to enjoy refreshments.
