I-Lab Multimedia Communication Systems is internationally renowned research group in the areas of media processing and communication technologies which houses around 35 researchers including 4 academics, 10 post-doctoral research fellows and PhD students.
I-Lab focuses on a number of research themes that cover the end-to-end communication chain including content capture, processing, coding and adaptation, fixed and wireless networking, content rendering, intelligent user interfaces and interaction, measurement and modelling of QoE.
I-Lab facilities include its own self-contained audio-visual signal processing labs, subjective testing facilities with various 2D-3D displays and speaker setups as well as communication systems emulators for end to end system configuration and evaluations.
I-Lab has been actively involved in EU framework research programmes as well with national research programmes including the EPSRC.
I-Lab has long term experience with Industrial collaborations.
