STMicroelectronics is one of the largest semiconductor company. Advanced System Technology (AST) is a division in charge of developing new solutions for the next generation products of STMicroelectronics. AST labs in Italy take advantage of many years of experience in the fields of image processing matured through its cooperation with the product divisions that are developing image sensors and, in the last years, moved the focus of the research activities from the "processing" to the "analysis and understanding" of the media content.

The seminar will show current research activities of AST Italian labs in the following fields: image/video analytics, optical flow and related application, depth map synthesis and descriptors and some hints about new technologies to interact with multimedia contents, such us pico-projection and touch/touchless displays.
